We are in the Brecon Beacons National Park - an area of outstanding Natural Beauty.
However you could easily come here with a large group of people and, for want of knowing where to go and what to do, miss out on all the wonderful scenery and walks in this area.
On our rather tongue-in-cheek dog website (written by Jack the Dog) there are numerous dog walks with directions, distances, photos etc. These are suitable for every visitor, especially walkers, with or without dogs.
See below some of the local walks:
Henrydd Waterfalls (5 minutes or so from Castle); steep path down, bring good walking boots.
The Mountain Centre at Libanus (about half an hour from the Castle). Lovely views all around, incluiding over Brecon. No climbing as you drive to the top.
The Lady of the Lake (ten minutes drive from Castle). The Lake of Arthurian Legend. See the write-up on this hidden ake and its past.
Pennwylt railray tracks (five minutes from Castle). Either walk along in one direction or back again, or do a circular walk via the Cavnig Club.
Nice two hour local circular walk around Usk Reservoir (25 minutes from Castle).
Ystradfelte Waterfalls (25 minutes from Castle).
