In an age when High Streets are failing, with boarded up shops now a common sight, it is remarkable how Wales has managed to hold its own, with some traditional market towns completely intact and vibrant.
Here is a traditional market town with an eclectic mix of arts and crafts shops, traditional High Street shops and an indoor market, and no out of town supermarket - there is Morrisons, but the town planners sensibly had this located IN the town. This is clearly a winning formula for the survival of our High Streets, for we always park near Morrisons, do the rounds for an hour or so in the town, then if we feel like it, pop into Morrisons for essential supplies.
There are nice pubs, a huge three storey antiques shop, and some tea shops - everything you need here really. Also some useful gifts shops and curiosity shops. 22 miles North of Craig y Nos but clear roads means it is only a 25 minute fast drive.
